I am so happy to be coming back to the Wax Shop June 16th!

And I invite you all to book now to reserve your spots with me for the summer. At the moment, Arianna is only pre-booking and accepting appointments up to four weeks out, but for me, you may go ahead and book from June 16th through the end of August if you’d like, or at least make an appointment in June and I can pre-book you for each consecutive one at check-out.

If you have been seeing Arianna, first of all, thank you for your flexibility and openness with that – I told you she was amazing! Secondly, because of her amazingness, you may not be in any hurry to see me, and THAT’S OKAY! I give you permission to stay with her and I won’t be upset! And she will also be very understanding if you come back me. We understand how these things work; we understand human nature, and in the service biz one simply cannot take things personally. The whole point is we want you to feel comfortable with whomever you see. Now you have doubled your options and can see both of us – makes scheduling easier, too!

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to leave a text at the shop number (919-480-1191) but as always, appointments, cancellations, and reschedules are best done online. And there is a waitlist now! The option to join will pop up if there is no availability for you and contact you by text when an appointment becomes available.

As for COVID-19 restrictions, they will still be in place for the time being, but most likely this summer, we’ll let you wait in the lounge rather than your car;) I’ll keep you posted! Arianna and I are both fully vaccinated, and though we won’t ask to see any vaccination cards, we hope to have your continued support and respect for adhering to all health and safety practices for yourselves and for others. You guys have been amazing so let’s keep it up – we are in this together!

A note on parking: starting in June when I am back at the shop, parking will once again become precious. The timing between client appointments will still be spaced out well enough to not cause any overlap, but it’s usually the case of non-clients parking there whom we don’t catch in time, or early clients, or the client/technician running late. So if you come to your appointment on time but still can’t find a place to park, all of Person St. within the business district has opened up many more 2-hour parking spaces on BOTH sides of Person St. so this will really help. Remember: if you come too too early there probably won’t be a space for you since the previous client will still be there. Especially in the busy busy summer. Thanks for your understanding and patience with parking;)

These kids and teachers have earned more respect from me in the last month than I could ever warrant in a lifetime. Parents/guardians? High-frickin’-fives all around. We will look back at these moments and think: my kids are amazing, I am amazing, and we will remember that freshman-fifteen isn’t just for college kids.

Moving on…isn’t Arianna amazing?! Told you so. Of course, those of you who have been seeing her regularly, already know this. But for those of you used to seeing my goofy old-lady mug, I hope it is a refreshing change! But I miss you!! I was in the shop yesterday doing some business-y stuff and upon passing my treatment room I looked in and got a bit nostalgic. Not necessarily for the actual task of waxing – my body is thankful for the break – but you. I miss you! Anyway, thanks

So the schedule is now open for about three weeks out at a time, so if you need to make a new appointment or reschedule keep checking back through Schedulicity.com for availability as the system automatically updates for cancellations/reschedules. But once you have an appointment, the absolute BEST thing to do, however, is if you have an existing appointment, to pre-book your next appointment with Arianna during check-out. And the second absolute BEST thing to do is KEEP your appointment because finding other availability is very difficult. As much as we will do our best to accommodate, remember Arianna now has my previous 150+ clients a month looking for space, plus her existing clients who DO pre-book with her on a regular basis. So if you can’t keep your appointment, you may not be able to get back in for a while. I’m sorry!!

Well, for the next ten months or so;)

I have already spoken with many of you, but for those whom I have not, I have decided to stay at home with my kiddo for a bit to help him navigate 4th grade virtually. I’m excited about this, but will miss you all terribly! My sisterhood! My community!

But the shop will still be open! Thanks to waxing guru, Arianna, and the continued support of you guys. Your patience with openings, closings, cancellations, rescheduling, and now asking many of you to take a new trust-fall all over again with someone new. But Arianna isn’t new to waxing! She has been with me since practically the beginning and I couldn’t do it without her. She is super chill, makes you feel very comfortable and at ease, a good friend and listener, and a complete and utter dog person. She will take care of you

Now on to practical matters…

Since there will be only one waxer, and with appropriate distancing between client appointment times, availability is very limited and it may be tough to get a new appointment or reschedule. I have opened up online scheduling (for up to three weeks out) but you may have to check back more than usual for spaces to become available. If you need to cancel outright, you’re certainly welcome to do that online. If all else fails, feel free to call/text the shop directly (or myself or Arianna if previously discussed) and we’ll respond via phone or text as soon as we can. But please understand that because of the very limited schedule, we simply may not be able to get you in in a timely manner and we ask for your patience. Arianna would love to be able to see all of you because that’s the kind of awesome person she is, but she needs to be able to get home once in a while to feed the dogs and kiss the hubby;)

Warning: this is long. But VERY IMPORTANT. There is a lot to cover so please read, I beg you!

Well, it has finally happened: we are open!

Though I must be honest with you, there is still some anxiety. Nevertheless, it is our business to make you look and feel good! And we certainly need that these days, don’t we? And we will continue to be unwavering in our commitment to providing you a safe, clean, healthy and comfortable environment.

Having said that, there are new requirements and policies in place to make sure that the environment is the “new norm” kind of healthy. Per the NC Governor’s Executive Order and the NC State Board of Cosmetic Arts, the following list needs to be complied with or service will be denied. As for our end, we will continue to uphold the health and safety standards which are the norm for our industry and our shop regardless, but with extra detailed attention paid to the new requirements ensuring complete sanitation and disinfection practices before, during, and after each client visit. Neither you nor myself and Arianna wish to bring anything back home to our loved ones. Please be mindful. If you have any doubt, please stay home.

To comply with proper distancing mandates, for the rest of May and the entirety of June, Arianna and I have split the work week/schedule so that there is only one technician and one client at a time. I am Monday through Wednesday, Arianna is Thursday through Saturday. We are also putting a 15-minute window between clients so that there will be no overlap. Details below. Because we are now working at half-capacity, it will be more difficult to find an opening for service. Please be patient and keep checking back online for availability. And because of limited availability, missed appointments without 24-hour notice and no-shows will be charged full price. Once we get into the fall season, we may implement the half-capacity schedules and distancing once again, as well as the other COVID-19 prevention practices. We will keep you posted.

Also for the rest of May and all of June, there will be no facial waxing of any kind, as this would be too close for comfort to all your breathing holes;) Please do not ask or insist. This may be end up being indefinite but we will keep you posted. For now, let’s just shoot for July and August.

CLIENT POLICIES:

*FACE MASKS REQUIRED. You will be asked to reschedule otherwise.

*STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK. SERIOUSLY.

*You must not have traveled 14 days prior to your appointment.

*You must be asymptomatic with no fever, and/or cough.

*You must not have had contact with a symptomatic person within 14 days of your appointment.

*If you work or visit inside an infected, at-risk, or immunity-compromised population, please refrain from coming in at this time.

*Upon your arrival, you will be asked these questions and to thoroughly wash your hands before your appointment.

*At checkout, you do not need to touch the screen (no signing is required), but we may (awkwardly) ask about tips which we will put in manually. Credit/debit cards are preferred, NO CASH, if possible.

Please time your appointments accordingly. These times are very specific along with the 15-minute gaps between clients to ensure proper distancing, so PLEASE BE ON TIME OR YOUR SERVICE MAY BE DENIED. If you are early, please wait in your car until your appointment time, as

THE DOOR WILL BE LOCKED BETWEEN CLIENTS.

STAY IN YOUR CAR! We will come and get you;)

…but another update:

As most of you have heard, NC now has an extended stay-at-home order until May 8th. From that point, there will be a three phase process for opening businesses. As we are in an industry which relies strictly on close contact, and therefore cannot maintain 6ft. social distancing in order to do our job, we will be on the second phase of the re-opening which at this point looks like May 22nd.

And honestly, we couldn’t agree more. To also help, Arianna and I have decided to do our own staggered entry. Meaning there will be only one client in the shop at a time, one technician at a time. Arianna and I will split the week; I will work Monday through Wednesday, Arianna will work Thursday through Saturday. We will put 15 minutes between clients. But please don’t be super early as that will defeat the purpose. Silver lining: this should make parking a lot easier! We will have this schedule for the rest of May and all of June. We will hopefully return to our regularly scheduled programming in July.

For those appointments in May and June, please go online to make sure you have the right days for either myself or Arianna and reschedule (again!) if you need – the calendar has already been adjusted for the new days and the 15 minute gaps.

And another bit of bad news: at this time we feel it would be unwise to do facial waxing. This includes brow waxing, lip and chin waxing. We wouldn’t want to have anyone take off their masks, but touching faces at this time also, leaves us a little bit hesitant. I am truly sorry. As of now, we will resume facial waxing (still only for existing brow clients) July 1st. So if you have an existing appointment for May or June, please reschedule beginning in July.

We look sooooo forward to seeing you – finally!! And don’t forget your face masks. I hear they’ve gotten very stylish and trendy these days;)

I know I sound like a broken record but I can’t express how much I appreciate you all’s patience, support, and understanding. Especially the patience. I’ve asked you so many times to reschedule and thank you for bearing with us through this insane time.

Just a reminder that due to COVID-19 and by order of Wake County as well as the North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Arts, Molly’s Wax Shop will be closed for the month of April. So…this newsletter is about what we’ve all been talking about: COVID 19, aka the Coronavirus.

Given the recent developments of a case here in Wake County, with possibly more to come, it would be unwise not to take precautions, some gentle reminders, as well as assurances.

So…we kindly ask, for the sake of myself and Arianna, but more importantly for clients who may have weakened immunity systems, respiratory or heart issues, if you have the flu (the usual or otherwise), flu-like symptoms, stomach bug or anything else contagious, or have been in contact with someone who is contagious, please stay home. Get some rest. Shaving one time is not the end of the world;)

Arianna and I will also give you the same respect. Just call our voicemail and let us know (the sooner the better) and there will be no cancellation fee at all. I also want to assure you all that we will continue to give you the highest quality of proper hygienic practices during your waxing, proper sanitation and disinfection of the environment that we always do.

Speaking of change…it’s that time again to do what myself and most local business owners dread: a price increase. Many businesses increase prices every year and so far (for four years) we’ve been able to weather market storms, but now it’s catching up with us. As both the cost of living increases (with it the lowered ability to maintain local business costs – it’s tough competing with the large chains!), and industry standards and expertise increases – so must our service prices. So…beginning June 1st, prices will increase by $4.

But Molly, what am I getting in return??

Well…

Here are some things to to remember about the value of what you are getting from myself and Arianna:

*Specialized hair removal and targeted skincare - it’s all we do! And we’ve been doing this for eight years, so we’ve gotten pretty darn good at it! Our value is in our level of expertise and commitment to client care. You don’t get too much of that from the cheaper big chains. And while this may not always ring true with some things (like cheap box wine, some of which are fantastic!), with health, particularly skincare and customer service, you really do get what you pay for.

*We don’t nitpick every single add-on. For example, we will happily remove your random tummy hair if you’re getting some type of bikini wax. We’ll also get that pesky inner-thigh hair for you. Or the tops of your feet for a leg wax. We’ll get that, too! Most places charge extra for these. And truly, you can’t beat the degree of detail we go through to get you the highest level of OCD- hair removal;)

*We are a one-of-a-kind women-only waxing studio! We want all of our clients to feel as comfortable and secure during what can be an awkward and vulnerable body treatment. Oh, and the conversations we have!
