I hope everyone is having a wonderfully shaped, trimmed, and hair-free summer!

It has been VERY busy here at the Shop as those of you who’ve been trying to get a last-minute appointment with me are aware of. Even not-so-last-minute appointments are kinda tough. Well I just wanted to let you know that I hate this as much as you do, so don’t be surprised when I start sending updates about a potential new waxer for 2014! But not to worry, I don’t plan on leaving this space (I love my little nook!), but rather have an esthetician who could provide better weekend and after-work availability which would be more convenient for many of you. At any rate, I’ll keep you posted!

A couple of quick scheduling issues:

**A reminder that an abundance of cancellations (with no reschedules) and no-shows will result in Schedulicity decreasing your reliability rating and the lower rating you get the less likely you’ll be able to schedule online.

**If you need to reschedule, please make sure that if you create a new appointment, make sure to cancel the old one.

**You are now able to book for the rest of the year! I’ve finally sorted out my own scheduling so for those of you whom I’ve already seen for your first visit, go ahead and start planning for the holidays! What?! I know, believe me, but they will be here before you know it so it’s best to go ahead and get those appointments in before the chaos of last-minute scheduling. And for those whom I have yet to see, we’ll chat about what schedule best fits your needs and then you can do the same!

Now that’s out of the way, here is the big tada! I posted this on my Molly’s Wax Shop Facebook page but I realize many of you do not do Facebook, so I’ll let you know now: you may remember for the month of June I was to donate 5% of my June sales to INTERACT, a local Wake County/Raleigh organization which supports, protects, and empowers women and children of domestic and sexual abuse. Well I was ALSO supposed to extend a 5% discount to you for your loyalty as part of my one-year anniversary here at the Shop. Well the bad news is that I completely spaced on the client discount for many of you and for this I deeply apologize. But the good news is, to make up for my absent-mindedness, I donated a full 10% (your discount +my 5%) of June sales to INTERACT. They were so grateful and appreciative and were even gracious enough to pose for a picture with me. They were absolutely thrilled. Again, I apologize, just know you are helping a fantastic organization! Thank you!!

Waxing is NOT LIKE the “40 Year Old Virgin”!

If you are a man, and you have a hairy back, getting that hair removed by such seemingly barbaric means as the one depicted in the 40-Year Old Virgin does not at all seem like something one would do voluntarily. But unless you have the hair suit of Steve Carrell or agliophobia, in reality, your waxing experience can be much less traumatic for you. One that is not sensationalized for the sake of the camera. Also, a properly trained esthetician would prep the skin first and understand the basic technique of placing the hand directly upon the skin after you pull the wax in order to slow down and stop the pressure on the pain receptors and nerve endings. Aah, the healing power of touch. Proper breathing techniques could have been employed. Inhale with the wax on, exhale when the wax is pulled. Channel your inner Karate Kid – wax on, wax off. You get it. Inhale. Exhale. Very easy. And I mean no offense to the film’s esthetician. I have no doubt that they edited the antiseptic cleansing and the soothing after oils, but it still makes my job harder when trying to get people to understand that ANY waxing, not just back, but a leg, underarm, bikini wax, etc., is actually MUCH MORE bearable than the movie depicts.

So guys, when you think of how amazing it would be to have the smooth back and shoulders that you secretly desire and your partners want but are too kind to tell you, don’t be taken in by the drama of the movies. And I know I’ve been talking of mens’ back waxes, but gals, when you think of how awesome it would be to not have to shave EVERY SINGLE DAY or every other day, the same applies. Wherever you go, if you make sure your service is performed by a trained, LICENSED esthetician, your waxing experience will be all the better for it. And your skin will thank you.
